Salt Pepper Battered Veggie Rice Burger
250g Veggie Rice (half of the frozen 500g pack)
1 tbsp plain flour
½ cup glutinous rice flour
Bread Buns
Salt Pepper Batter:
1/3 cup plain flour, 1 tsp salt, ½ tsp black pepper, 3 ½ tbsp water
Salt 1 tsp
Oil ½ tsp oil for patties mix and 1 tbsp to cook the patties
Sugar ¼ tsp
Black Pepper ¼ tsp
Parsley Flakes ½ tsp
1. To thaw veggie rice is not to freeze your hands when making patties.
2. Take sauces and veggies out from fridge early enough for better taste feeling.
3. Use large bowl to make patties. Make patties with gentle force.
4. Add water gradually when making the batter.
5. Make patties into a ball first, then press down.
6. You may brush batter onto the patties.
7. Cooking patties is easy when we use flat pan and curved spatula.
8. When oil is warm in the pan, turn off the heat. Do this when putting in patties may also protect you from being burned.
9. Carefully control cooktop heat to cook patties so both sides are in crispy golden brown and the patties are cooked.
10. Use wavy edge knife to cut buns and tomatoes.
11. Warm buns to get best taste result.
12. Not recommend to add salt and pepper in addition to the battered patties.
13. Any types of cheese seem not necessary for this recipe.
Bedding: Vegan Butter or Apple Sauce
Topping and filling vegetables: Tomato, Cos Lettuce and Alfalfa sprouts
Sauce: BBQ sauce
1. Thaw veggie rice.
2. Wash tomato and cos lettuce.
3. Dry lettuce with paper towel.
4. Slice tomato.
5. Mix veggie rice, salt, sugar, black pepper, parsley flakes, oil, plain flour and glutinous rice flour together. Add half of the glutinous rice flour first. Then add the rest.
6. Mix them into dough. Then separate them into 3 equal parts.
7. Make batter with 1/3 cup of plain flour, 1 tea spoon of salt, ½ tea spoon of black pepper and 3 ½ table spoon of water. Add water gradually.
8. Heat a flat pan. Add oil. ½ table spoon of oil for the start. Turn off the heat when oil is warm.
9. Make patties from the mixture. Then coat batter on to the patties.
10. Cook patties in the flat pan.
11. Control heat well to cook the patties and make both sides of the patties in golden brown.
12. Spread vegan butter or apple sauce on the bread. Make burgers with bread buns, tomato, cos lettuce, cooked patties and alfalfa sprouts. Use BBQ sauce for dressing.
13. Enjoy.
